On February 24th, 2006, police found the nude (partially clothed) body of Iwana Patton, 35, on a dirt road off of Williamson Boulevard at approximately 1:30 PM. Authorities had received a telephone call from an unknown caller describing the location of Patton's body. The anonymous caller was eventually identified and was ruled out as a suspect in the killings.
The woman had been sexually assaulted before she was shot to death. She was shot in the head at close range with a .40 caliber handgun. Police say Patton had been killed less than 24 hours earlier. The day following the discovery of Patton's body, police found her white Mazda abandoned behind a speech rehabilitation center at Ridgewood and Cottrill Avenues. An employee at the center recalled seeing the car in the lot, but assumed the car's owner was a client of the nearby Serenity House. The director of the center stated that none of the victims were among the center's clientele. Police speculated that Patton had parked at the center to meet her killer. The vehicle was taken into police custody.
Iwana Patton, of Holly Hill, FL, was a nurse's aid who worked at an assisted living facility. Patton's last known address was on Derbyshire Road in Holly Hill. The house she lived in is owned by a man who also has at least two assisted living facilities behind the house Patton lived in. Patton had been arrested in the recent past for prostitution. In 2004, she was sentenced to 25 days in jail after she pled no contest to a misdemeanor battery charge.
Julie Green's boyfriend , Frank Gilbert did not understand how Patton was related as a murder victim because her personality was different and she didn't steal. Gilbert said Green knew Patton and the two visited him together on occasions.
